three staro types illustrated in the readings that stood out to me are that teens are grouped as "rebel youth (like James Dean)", the "mammy" figure in the article Adults think black girls are older than they are and it matters, and that youth are seen as mysterious with secrets to hide in Dr. Bogad's framing youth. To believe and assume all teenagers want to rebel or want to "be bad" is absurd my personal experience I always had good intentions and wanted to follow all the rules. I never wanted to be "bad" or a rebel until a teacher labeled me as lazy and not caring. When she did this I felt I had no control of what she thought of me and I gave up trying to prove her wrong. The mammy person described in the article upsets me as well. Having this image and almost creating these expectations by thinking a child fits into that role strips that young girl from having a childhood and being treated like the young person she should be. A YOUNG PERSON NOT AN ADULT. Also what baffles me is the Katie Homes Photograph making her seem mysterious. It created this false view that is an attractive quality to have as a teen. learning about all 3 of these stero tymes upset me and I hope one day I can help change and break these assumptions of our youth.

  1. AGREED! Not many teens actually rebel! They just are learning life, and sometimes you need to make mistakes to learn. That is not rebelling, it is learning.
